Former national shuttler Goh Liu Ying says she is hitched – with baby on the way?

KUALA LUMPUR: It may be a case of double happiness for former national shuttler Goh Liu Ying, who has hinted she is married – and expecting a baby too!

In a Faceboook post on Tuesday (April 18) evening, the Olympics silver medallist posted four pictures, with the caption: "You had me at HELLO. Met the right person at the right time. Everything seems to press the fast forward button Very lucky, because of you +1."

Two photographs are of two hands with rings on the ring fingers, and the third a close-up of the two rings.

More tellingly, however, was the fourth picture, which showed a man's hands forming a heart shape around the woman's belly.

While Liu Ying did not explicitly state she is pregnant, the "+1" and heart-shaped hands appear to say it all.

Liu Ying made another Facebook post in Malay saying, "Bertemu dengan orang yang tepat pada waktu yang tepat 1+1=3" (met the right person at the right time. 1+1=3).

According to Chinese-language sports portal, wellsports.asia, the 34-year-old confirmed the news.

She said she did not talk about her love life before as wanted public attention to focus on her career.

Liu Ying said her "Mr Right" is a low-profile businessman, whom she started dating when she was still competing. She did not reveal his identity.

"I am very happy to share the news and sincerely thank all for the wishes. As for my new family, I wish the public would give me more privacy," she told the portal.
