Retiring Deputy IGP reappointed on two-year contract


KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has approved the re-appointment of Tan Sri Razarudin Husain @ Abd Rasid as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for a two-year period, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

"Under Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the advice of the Prime Minister on the certification of The Police Force Commission has approved the appointment on a contractual basis after the retirement Razarudin Husain @ Abd Rasid as Deputy IGP for a period of two years effective from March 16, 2023 to March 15, 2025," he said in a statement on Thursday (March 16).

Razarudin, 60, was born on March 15, 1963 in Dengkil, Selangor.

He graduated with a Master's degree of Social Sciences in Policing Studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and held various positions at state and contingent levels.

He started working in 1984 at the Kedah police contingent as a criminal investigation department (CID) investigating officer and continued his service in the department until 1996 with the rank of Asst Supt (ASP) in Muar, Johor.

He was later appointed as Administrative ASP at the Muar police headquarters and subsequently appointed as management division head in the same district in 1997.

In 1998 he returned to work at Muar CID as a senior investigating officer and in the same department in the Johor contingent.

In 2000, he continued his service at the Kluang district Narcotic Crime Investigation Department(NCID) before continuing his studies at the PDRM College in Cheras.

Then he was placed at the Kota Setar CID and was promoted to Dept Supt (DSP), holding the position as Head of the Sandakan CID. After that, he was appointed as Kudat OCPD and served for three years there.

He returned to Bukit Aman CID in the special operations D8 unit with the rank of Supt and continued his studies for a Master's degree. Upon returning he was promoted to Asst Comm (ACP) and placed as the Bukit Aman CID D9 assistant director.

After that he was promoted to Senior Asst Comm (SAC) by serving as Deputy Commander of the Special Task Force on Organised Crime (STAFFOC), before going to the Penang Contingent as the CID chief.

He was promoted to Deputy Comm (DCP) as Deputy Police Commissioner of Sabah and two years later was appointed as the Perak Deputy Police Chief. He was then promoted to Commissioner as the Perak Police Chief.

In September 2020, he was appointed as the Bukit Aman narcotics CID director.

In December 2021, he was appointed as Deputy IGP.

Saifuddin said the government congratulated Razaruddin on his appointment.
