Floods: Action will be taken on caterers who serve evacuees poor quality meals

MELAKA: Action will be taken against caterers who serve poor quality meals to flood victims at relief centres, says state exco member Datuk Kalsom Noordin.

The women, family development and welfare committee chairman said this following allegations of rotten fish curry being served to evacuees at a relief centre in Sungai Rambai here.

Kalsom said she has sought an explanation from the caterers involved about the quality of food supplied to flood victims.

"We have the list of caterers and we will take action if they continue to supply poor quality meals," she said on Wednesday (March 8).

Kalsom said she visited the relief centre after receiving complaints about the meals served to flood victims.

"We will not hesitate to change the caterers if they continue to serve such meals and will monitor the meals supplied by caterers," she added.

Flood victims from Kampung Batu Gajah Pasir in Jasin here claimed that they experienced food poisoning after consuming the spoiled fish curry.

The victims claimed they had to throw away the lunch supplied to them on Monday (March 6) after it was inedible while other meals were of low quality.
