Eight houses destroyed in fire in Kuala Perlis


KANGAR: Eight houses and a motorcycle were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Seberang Alor, Kuala Perlis, near here early Saturday morning (June 13).

Perlis Fire and Rescue Department director, senior fire superintendent I Wan Mohd Hamizi Wan Mohd Zin, said firefighters received an emergency call about the incident at 3.38am. A team from the Kuala Perlis Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene two minutes later.

"The incident involved eight Class B houses and a motorcycle, all of which were destroyed," he said in a statement on Saturday.

Firefighters from the Kangar Fire and Rescue Station, together with volunteer fire brigades from Simpang Empat, Padang Besar, Kuala Perlis and Pauh, assisted in bringing the blaze under control.

The fire was contained at 4.40 am, and the operation ended at 8.13 am. No injuries were reported.

Wan Mohd Hamizi said the department's forensic team is investigating the cause of the incident and assessing the extent of the losses. – Bernama
