Don't keep us in the dark, tell us about unity govt secretariat meetings, says Muda

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) says they would like the unity government secretariat to inform the party of any meetings taking place.

Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi said communications between Muda and the secretariat could be improved.

He said Muda should have been informed of events taking place.

"We were kept in the dark. If we can improve our communications, then no problem.

"The problem is that we don't know what's happening," said Amir when contacted on Thursday (Feb 9).

He said that regardless of a political party's size, every party in the unity government has a role to play.

"We also have our supporters and members, who saw the news and we need to answer to them," said Amir, who added that he hoped for better communication with the unity government in future.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had said earlier Thursday that the first unity government secretariat meeting at Menara Dato Onn was meant for founding parties of the government, adding that other parties would be roped in later.

On Feb 3, Anwar was at the Umno headquarters in Menara Dato Onn to chair the first secretariat meeting.

However, there are representatives from Muda at the meeting.

Muda said that although its logo was included in the poster, the party was not informed about it.
