Anifah hopes to make Sabah investor friendly in his new advisory role

KOTA KINABALU: Former foreign minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman is keen to push Sabah as an investor-friendly destination with his appointment as the state government's advisor on international relations and foreign investments.

"I will also do my best to advise the Chief Minister on any matters pertaining to international relations and to boost Sabah’s image as an investor-friendly state," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 31).

He said with the state government strengthened with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), it was high time for the state to engage with foreign nations and get foreign companies to invest in Sabah.

"I would like to thank the Chief Minister for the trust given to me in appointing me to this very important position.

"The Chief Minister understands how important international relations are in achieving the vision of 'Sabah Maju Jaya', especially in how the strengthening of international relations can help bring in foreign investments to Sabah," he said.

On Monday (Jan 31), Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor presented Anifah with the appointment letter as Special Advisor on International Relations and Foreign Investment to the Chief Minister.

"My appointment shows that the Chief Minister is a visionary because by engaging in international relations, he is bringing Sabah into the limelight.

"We have much to offer, especially to foreign investors," he added.
