Health Ministry offering new permanent positions to MOs a step in the right direction, says MMA


PETALING JAYA: The announcement of 4,263 permanent posts offered to medical officers in 2023 is a big step in the right direction, says the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).

Its president Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai said the 4,263 permanent positions offered to medical officers as announced by the Health Minister on Friday (Jan 6) was indeed a welcomed piece of news.

"MMA wishes to thank Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa in delivering on her promises to open up more permanent posts for the many medical officers on contract in the system.

"It is beyond our expectations. The MMA will continue to engage and work with the Health Ministry towards addressing the contract doctor issue and securing more permanent posts.

"It is still not over yet but this announcement is a big step in the right direction," he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 6).
