KUALA LUMPUR: Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals who wish to hand over memorandums to certain parties while Parliament is in session are only allowed to do so at Tugu Negara.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the designated location was preferred to prevent any traffic congestion on the main route to Parliament.

"Any media statement from representatives of those handing over the memorandum is also only allowed at the national monument.

"We have designated it as the location for groups handing over any memorandum to gather," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 20).

Comm Azmi said the police will step up security and traffic management around the Parliament area during the current session from Monday (Dec 19) until Wednesday (Dec 21).

"We will ensure the safety of all and smooth traffic flow for those attending the session.

"We advise the public not to gather or hold any rally without permission. Stern action will be taken against those who break the law," he said.
