Batang Kali landslide: Family of three identified among the dead, another child still missing

SUNGAI BULOH: The bodies of a family - including parents and one child aged three - who were victims of the Batang Kali landslide have been identified and claimed by their next of kin from the Sungai Buloh Hospital mortuary on Sunday (Dec 18).

Another six-year old daughter is still missing and believed to be still buried in the landslide.

Former Machap assemblyman Ginie Lim said the missing child has yet to be found.

"The next of kin is from Machap Umboo and they identified and claimed the bodies today (Dec 18). They are very distraught," said Lim, who came to the mortuary to provide support to the next of kin.

A relative, identified as only Mary, said that the family had gone camping on the farm before tragedy struck.

"It is very sad. I hope the daughter can be found as soon as possible," said Mary.

The victims were part of a group of eight from the Alor Gajah district, which went camping before tragedy struck in the wee hours of Friday (Dec 16).

It is believed that the identification of the three was the last of the 24 dead victims who have been found so far.

Nine victims remain missing at the landslide site at the Father's Organic Farm in Batang Kali. Another 61 survived the ordeal.
