"The first stage at 8pm involves the Queen 1 and Queen 2 roundabouts, the second stage at 9pm involves the Persiaran Bayan Indah roundabout, all entrances and exits to the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge and the Batu Maung roundabout heading towards downtown.

"The third stage closure at 11pm will involve Bandar Cassia, and the road closure starts at midnight.

"As for the fourth stage for the island section, it will start at midnight involving the Bayan Baru roundabout (to and from the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway) and detour to Jalan Tun Dr Awang and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah," he told a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here on Tuesday (Dec 13).

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the event has so far attracted 3,623 participants and will be held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge.

He said the event will be officiated by Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.

He added that the event will cover a distance of 73km.

"In addition to the cycling event, visitors will be treated to a variety of special performances from guest artists and traditional dance performances.

"There will also be stalls selling various items including food, which will be open from 6pm on Saturday at the parking lot outside Queensbay Mall," he said.

He advised road users heading towards Bayan Baru and Bayan Lepas from the mainland to use Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah while those from the north and south of the mainland heading to Bandar Cassia should go through Bukit Tambun.

He also called on road users to plan their journey ahead during the road closures.
