Show proof gaming funds used for Perikatan campaign or face legal action, PAS tells PM

PETALING JAYA: PAS tells Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to provide proof after implying that funds from gaming companies were used to partially fund Perikatan Nasional's 15th General Election (GE15) campaign.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said that Perikatan would study taking legal action against Anwar's "wild accusation" if no proof was furnished.

"PAS is deeply disappointed in the slanderous accuastion by Anwar, which implies that Perikatan's election funds came from gaming funds," Takiyuddin said in a statement Monday (Dec 5).

On Monday, Anwar had hit out at the Perikatan coalition for allowing 22 special draws for 4D numbers under its administration.

“On the issue of gambling, certainly this is partly used to finance elections. (I have asked for) checks on that.

“Whether you call yourself a Malay party or an Islamist party, notwithstanding, the (election) funds came from gaming companies,” he added.
