61-year-old woman suffers burns to her hands in Batu Caves house fire

BATU CAVES: An elderly woman suffered burns to her hands after her house caught fire at Sunway Batu Caves here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the incident was reported at 8.58am on Tuesday (Nov 29).

"We received the call and rushed three fire engines and a water tanker together with 16 personnel to the scene.

"They arrived at the scene and found that a fire had occurred at the upper floor of a two-storey terrace house," he said when contacted on Tuesday.

He said an elderly woman and her mentally ill daughter were in the house during the incident.

"The 61-year-old woman suffered burns to her hands and received medical treatment from paramedics at the scene.

"Her daughter who was in her 20s managed to escape unhurt," he said.

Norazam said they managed to completely put out the flames by 10.20am.

"The cause of the fire and estimated damages are under investigation," he said.
