KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized over half a million ringgit worth of heroin following the arrest of a man in Kampung Kubu Gajah Dalam, Sungai Buloh.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the operation was carried out at around 5pm on Tuesday (Nov 22).
"The 34-year-old suspect was driving when he was caught near a house there.
"Checks of the car he was driving revealed three boxes containing 90 packets of heroin weighing 41kg in total," he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 25).
He said investigations revealed the suspect was waiting for a buyer when he was apprehended.
"We believe the syndicate he belongs to has been active for over three months.
"The heroin was believed to have been processed within the Klang Valley and the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) is now working to track down the remaining members of the syndicate," he said.
He added that the suspect, who was jobless, did not have a criminal record and has been remanded for seven days to help with the investigation.
Those with information on drug activities can contact the NCID hotline via WhatsApp at 012-208 7222.
