JOHOR BARU: Police have deployed “Ops Lancar '' to monitor all of roads in the state and ensure that traffic is under control for polling day in the 15th General Election on Saturday (Nov 19).
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that the operation, which began on Thursday (Nov 17), involved officers and personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT).
“The operation will run until Nov 20 to ensure smooth and controlled traffic throughout the state.
“There will be personnel manning intersections, an increase in patrols, and response time to any accidents that might affect the flow of traffic,” he said in a statement here Friday (Nov 18).
The operation involves 291 officers and personnel across the state who were stationed at 31 hotspots, he added.
Comm Kamarul Zaman also said that currently all of the expressways as well as federal and state routes were moving smoothly and under control.
“All highway exits and tolls are under control,” he said, adding that the police will continue to monitor the situation under Ops Lancar.
