KUCHING: Inclusive development for all Sarawakians is the focus of Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) manifesto for the 15th General Election (GE15).
GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the manifesto would cover the B40 and M40 groups, youths, students, women, children, the disabled, senior citizens, civil servants, as well as urban and rural folk.
“In other words, we will fight for all Sarawakians through our manifesto.
“This is our commitment to the people, not empty promises,” he said when launching the manifesto last night.
The manifesto is based on five pillars: political and social stability; infrastructure development; economic transformation; human capital development; and efficient administration.
Abang Johari said this was the first time GPS was contesting a parliamentary election on its own, with its own manifesto to fight for Sarawak’s rights and interests.
Since GPS was formed in 2018, he said, the coalition was able to determine the state’s direction in line with the aspirations of Sarawakians.
“We don’t have to refer to Putrajaya as far as Sarawak is concerned.
“We have also fought for our rights through amendments to the Federal Constitution,” he said.
Abang Johari called on GPS candidates in all 31 seats to work hard and ensure a big victory for the coalition come polling day on Nov 19.
“With a strong voice in Parliament, we will continue to uphold Sarawak’s rights,” he said.
