GE15: Tian Chua to be sacked from PKR for running as an independent, says Anwar

IPOH: Chua Tian Chang, better known as Tian Chua, who decided to contest the Batu parliamentary seat as an independent candidate will be automatically sacked from PKR, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR president said as a policy, party members who contest as independents would automatically be terminated.

"It is unfortunate he has chosen this path. He has been a dedicated reformist, and I don’t think this is what a reformist should do.

"So we have to take necessary action," he told reporters after the announcement of the candidates for the Tambun parliamentary seat by the returning officer here.

Meanwhile, another independent hopeful for the Batu parliamentary seat decided not to contest after hearing that Tian Chua would be contesting.

Sao M. Mahendran had said earlier he was representing the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Taxi Group, but said he would now support Tian Chua’s campaigning efforts.

Tian Chua announced on Saturday (Nov 5) that he was contesting in the 15th General Election (GE15), running for the Batu parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
