GE15: Perlis BN dismisses talk of big names being dropped, says wait for official announcement

KANGAR: Perlis Barisan Nasional has dismissed talk about big names being dropped from representing the coalition in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Perlis Barisan secretary Azizan Sulaiman said talk of a certain leader's name being dropped was not true as the final list would only be announced on Tuesday (Nov 1) night.

"It's not true, it has not been announced yet," he said.

Azizan, who is also state Umno secretary, called on supporters to be patient and wait for the announcement from Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He also expressed his regret over the shutting down of the Barisan operation centres in Arau.

Among the names tipped to be dropped in Perlis were incumbent Arau MP and Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Padang Besar MP Datuk Seri Zahidi Zainul Abidin, who is also Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister.

Zahidi, when contacted, urged supporters not to speculate on his candidacy for GE15.

He asked his supporters to wait for the announcement on Tuesday (Nov 1) night.

Zahidi had earlier expressed his desire to defend his seat in GE15.
