Umno's Isham Jalil tipped to contest Shah Alam seat

PETALING JAYA: Umno supreme council member Isham Jalil is tipped to contest the Shah Alam parliamentary seat.

A Barisan Nasional source said that the former Selangor Barisan Nasional information chief would be contesting in Umno's most challenging parliamentary constituency.

In GE14, Umno lost to Pakatan Harapan’s Khalid Abd Samad of Amanah by 33,849 votes.

Khalid got 55,949 votes, Umno’s Azhari Shaari (22,100) and PAS’ Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marsuki (15,194).

The 33,849 votes is the second-largest margin that the party lost out of the 115 parliamentary seats it contested in 2018.

Isham, 46, who has a Master's from Havard University, is seen as the new face of Umno.
