KULAI: The cops are waiting for the DNA results of one of the victims who died in a car fire at KM45.7 of the North-South Expressway here as a result of a vehicle pile-up.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said that several individuals, who believe that the yet to be identified victim was their family member, had come forward to identify the body.
"They were unable to identify the body due to the severe burn injuries. As such a DNA test needed to be done.
"We have taken blood samples from the family and the victim for the test. We expect the results to be out in two weeks," he said.
He said this to reporters when met after the opening ceremony of DHL Malaysia Express Johor Baru Gateway.
Supt Tok also noted that one of the lorry drivers involved in the accident had also been remanded for four days, starting Monday (Oct 18).
"We have conducted a drug test on the 37-year-old man and the result was negative.
"He also did not have any criminal records," he said, adding that the investigation was still ongoing.
On Saturday (Oct 15), two individuals were burnt to death after their cars burst into flames following a five vehicle pile-up at KM45.7 of the North-South Expressway here.
The other victim was 28-year-old Nurul Nazihah Kamalul Arifin.
