GE15: BN to announce seat allocations and candidates next week, says Dr Wee

KUALA LUMPUR: Seat allocation and candidates for the 15th General Election in Barisan Nasional will be finalised next week, says Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"We (Barisan) are still in talks. We still have time for that before we finalise everything next week," said the MCA president after attending the Barisan Nasional supreme council meeting to discuss all component parties' readiness in facing the national poll.

When asked if the seat distributions involved those left vacant by Gerakan, which had left Barisan, Dr Wee said more discussions between the component parties would address that.

"What's important is for the three main component parties to have in-depth talks at each constituency involved.

"This is to see if there's any changes in terms of (voter) composition, especially after Undi 18. We will study each factor."

Dr Wee noted that a framework of seat distribution was there and Barisan was fine-tuning it accordingly.

When asked if Parti Bangsa Malaysia would be accepted into Barisan, Dr Wee said it had not been discussed in the meeting.

He also said more meetings were expected to take place over the next few days as Barisan was all about working with consensus.

When met, MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M.Saravanan said information pertaining to seat allocations would be revealed in the next few days by the party president.

"Today's meeting was more on administrative matters and steps needed to be taken to face the general election," he said.
