Eligible owners can apply for further 100-litre Budi Diesel quota, says Finance Ministry

PETALING JAYA: More than half a million eligible diesel vehicle owners, including pick-up and jeep owners, can apply for an additional 100 litres of subsidised diesel a month through the Budi Madani portal, says the Finance Ministry.

The Ministry said that the additional allocation will raise their monthly Budi Diesel eligibility from 300 litres to 400 litres.

“Eligible pick-up and jeep owners who have yet to apply for the additional allocation can do so at www.budimadani.gov.my.

“For those who had previously been approved for the additional 100 litres, their monthly eligibility will be automatically adjusted to 400 litres from Sept 1,” it said in a statement on Monday (Aug 31).

The announcement follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s National Day address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on Sunday (Aug 30).

He announced the restoration of the basic monthly eligibility for the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) programme from 200 litres to 300 litres and the Budi Diesel subsidies for up to 400 litres a month, up from 300 litres previously.

The ministry added that under the revised eligibility for Budi95, around 16 million users will continue to enjoy RON95 petrol at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.

“Of this total, more than 700,000 users will also be eligible for subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre,” it said.

It added that the restoration of the monthly diesel quota took into account improved supply management, stricter enforcement, the country’s strong economic performance and the government’s financial capacity.

“The move also takes into account the needs of people who have to travel long distances for their daily activities, as well as small traders who depend on their vehicles to earn a living.

“The government will continue to ensure that fuel subsidies are channelled to eligible Malaysians, while strengthening efforts to curb leakages, smuggling and abuse,” it said.
