DAP sec-gen shares cryptic social media post after Kian Ming announces resignation

PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke on Monday (Aug 31) took to social media with a cryptic post featuring the Malay proverb “habis madu sepah dibuang” (when the honey is gone, the dregs are thrown away).

“Habis madu sepah dibuang,” Loke wrote in his post, without specifying who it was directed at.

His post came shortly after former Bangi MP Dr Ong Kian Ming announced his resignation from the party.

The post drew reactions from the public in the comment section, with many questioning whether it was related to Ong’s departure.

Earlier Monday, Ong announced his resignation from DAP, effective Monday (Aug 31).

The former DAP central executive committee (CEC) member said he was not planning to join another political party in the near future and would not seek to contest in the next general election.

“I am not planning to join another political party in the near future and I will not be seeking to contest as a candidate in the next general election.

“I remain committed to fulfilling the promise I made on Jan 10, 2026, to help Khairy Jamaluddin campaign in the 16th General Election (GE16), if he is given a seat to run in,” he said in a statement.

Ong joined DAP in 2012 and served as MP for Serdang from 2013 to 2018 and Bangi from 2018 to 2022.

He was also the deputy investment, trade and industry minister from 2018 to 2020, an appointed member of the DAP CEC from 2019 to 2022 and an elected member of the Selangor DAP committee from 2018 to 2024.
