Perikatan against polls during flood season, not withdrawing support for PM, says Hamzah

PETALING JAYA: Being opposed to holding polls during the monsoon does not mean pulling out support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (pic).

The Perikatan Nasional secretary-general said the letter which was sent to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong two days ago was a protest against Umno's push for a general election and does not imply a vote of no-confidence against Ismail Sabri.

"The letter from Perikatan MPs to the Palace was sent after a consensus was reached between Bersatu (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) and PAS," said Hamzah after Bersatu's supreme council meeting in Shah Alam on Thursday (Oct 6) according to a news portal.

He said the Bersatu top leadership meeting discussed Perikatan's election preparations, among them seat allocations and campaign machinery rollout.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had earlier questioned if the letter to the King meant Perikatan has no confidence in the Prime Minister.

The much-speculated move that Ismail Sabri would request for a dissolution of the Parliament during his meeting in Istana Negara on Thursday did not take place.
