US FAA restores Malaysia's air safety rating to Cat 1

PETALING JAYA: The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has upgraded Malaysia's air safety rating, says Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong (pic).

"Official announcement by the US FAA on the reinstatement of Malaysia to Category 1 under the FAA IASA safety ranking," the Transport Minister said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Oct 4).

He also posted a link to the official FAA announcement.

In November 2019, the FAA lowered Malaysia from Category 1 to Category 2, meaning Malaysian airlines were restricted to current levels of any existing US service and subject to additional inspections at US airports.
