Child Interview Centre records statement of abused kids rescued from Ampang condo

AMPANG: The two children who were allegedly abused by their aunt and her husband have been sent to the Child Interview Centre (CIC) for their statements to be recorded.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the eight-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister were sent to the CIC on Monday (Sept 19).

"We have conducted a further interview with the two children at the CIC.

"We expect to complete the investigation and submit the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor by this week," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 20).

Police have recorded the statements of several other individuals in connection with the case, he said.

It was previously reported that the aunt and uncle of the two children were remanded until Sept 23.

On Friday (Sept 16), the boy was rescued after he attempted to flee his home by climbing out the fourth floor of a condominium unit in Taman Cahaya.

Firefighters that attended to him found numerous signs of physical abuse on the child’s body.

Police later found his younger sister, aged six, with similar bruises.

Two suspects, the child’s aunt and her husband, were arrested following the discovery.

ACP Mohamad Farouk had said the two children were left in the care of the suspects for the last two years following the death of their father.

"They have stayed with the suspects for the last two years after their father died. The birth mother does not want to take care of the two victims," he said.
