PETALING JAYA: After receiving brickbats over remarks that allegedly demeaned women, actor Datuk Rosyam Nor says he has no intentions to undermine women.
According to a report by Harian Metro, Rosyam explained that his remarks were intended to motivate women into improving themselves in business, saying that the remarks on Tuesday (Sept 13) should be viewed from a positive angle.

“The program organised by me was meant to motivate and spread awareness to women so they can rise up in business.
“So, the issue of me speaking crassly or undermining women does not arise,” he was quoted as saying on Wednesday (Sept 14).

In the clip, Rosyam said women were always late and urged them to attend a particular event or he would "smack them on the head”.
"Everything is late when it comes to women. Wake up, wake up from your sleep!" he is heard saying in the video.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and ministry officials were seen standing beside the actor, smiling.
The clip, meant to promote the ministry's entrepreneurial programme at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, has garnered over 280,000 views.
Rina was also criticised by various leaders, with Pengerang MP Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said noting that such remarks by Rosyam had undermine the ministry’s efforts in addressing violence against women.
“All efforts taken by the ministry in combatting violence against women have been in vain,” said Azalina.
Meanwhile, at a separate event on Wednesday, Rina criticised Rosyam in a speech.
“He said yesterday (Sept 13), that women shouldn’t wake up late. They always wake up late.
“I told Rosyam, do not undermine the efforts and determination of a woman,” said Rina, in a video posted on her Instagram account.
