Officer injured in pursuit of cable theft suspect


KLUANG: A Motorcycle Patrol Unit officer from the Kluang District Police Headquarters was injured after falling from his bike while pursuing a cable theft suspect at Jalan Doraet early Wednesday (Sept 16) morning.

Kluang deputy OCPD Supt Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said the incident occurred at 1.57am while the officer was chasing a suspect driving a Mitsubishi vehicle with stolen cables tied to the vehicle’s rear.

He said police confirmed the incident after videos of the pursuit circulated on Threads.

"At 5.54am, police received a report from the motorcycle patrol officer involved in the chase stating that one of them fell during the incident.

"Police are currently tracking down the suspect, and members of the public with any information are urged to contact the nearest police station,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 and Section 353 of the Penal Code for theft and using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty, respectively. – Bernama
