KDM's sole assemblyman declares full support for party leadership

KOTA KINABALU: Parti KDM's sole state assemblyman Datuk Rusdin Riman, who has not been seen at party activities since the party withdrew its support for the state government, has come out to reaffirm his "unwavering" loyalty to the party.

He said that he remained with KDM and stood firmly behind the leadership of its acting president Priscella Peter.

The Paginatan assemblyman fully backed the party's decision to withdraw its support for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition state government and the party's political direction for the 16th General Election.

"I will always respect and sincerely support the party's decisions for the benefit of the people," said Rusdin, who sits as a chairman of the state-owned Sabah Credit Corporation.

On his recent comments about his position in the state government, Rusdin said it should not be misinterpreted as a shift in loyalty or an attempt to sideline the party.

"My loyalty to KDM and party president Priscella Peter is unwavering. My earlier statement reflected my determination to ensure that Paginatan continues to be protected and not left behind in the development agenda.

"I respect and uphold the party's decisions and will continue to move in step with KDM's leadership," he said in a statement Wednesday (Sept 16).

Talks have been growing that KDM, Sabah STAR (led by Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan) and Parti Warisan (led by Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal) could form a pact to go up against GRS in GE16.

Party leaders have no formal discussions have taken place but they have been seen together at public events, including Malaysia Day celebrations in Keningau.
