Body found in Perak waters, believed to be missing Klang angler

KLANG: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for three missing anglers has intensifiedafter a body was discovered in waters off Bagan Sungai Belukang, Perak.

Klang Utara deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Rahimi Zainol said the body was found at about 9.30am on Wednesday (Sept 16) in the Bagan Sungai Belukang area in Bagan Datuk, tied to a drum and wearing a life jacket.

He said the body was taken to hospital for identification.

"The three anglers still missing are Muhamad Ridzuan Ruhaizat, 37, Mohd Shahril Abd Rahman, 43 and Raja Mohd Rozi Raja Mohamad, 49," he told reporters at the Sementa Jetty here on Wednesday.

Based on accounts from survivors, Mohd Rahimi said all victims tied themselves to drums after the boat they were travelling in capsized.

He said after the capsize, they held hands and formed a group of seven.

Meanwhile, Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) officer Lt Mohd Syafiq Sazali said the third day of the SAR operation focused more on the waters along the Selangor-Perak border based on an updated simulation.

On Monday, MMEA mobilised its assets at 3.40am after receiving information about the anglers' disappearance, before the SAR operation was officially activated at 5am.

Four victims were found safe in waters off Sekinchan on the second day of the search and were sent to hospital for treatment. – Bernama
