Four of seven missing anglers rescued, SAR op continuing


KLANG: Four of the seven missing fishermen have been found safe, according to police.

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said that search and rescue (SAR) operations led to the rescue of four victims in waters off Sekinchan.

"On the second day of the operation, at 10.01am today, we received information from a fishing boat regarding the discovery of the victims," he said on Tuesday (Sept 15).

"The four were brought to the Port Klang marine police base before being referred for medical examination and treatment."

They have been identified as Mohd Shairazi Abdul Aziz, 43; Muhd Hamiszar Punirain and Mohd Rizal Mohamad Sadali, both 45; Zulfikalnain Awang, 47.

"The remaining three victims have yet to be located, and SAR operations are continuing in the water and along the coastline based on the designated search sectors," ACP Ramsay said.

He added that bad weather had caused the victims' boat to capsize.

It was reported that seven fishermen went missing on Monday (Sept 14) after leaving the Sementa Jetty by boat.
