KULAI: The people of Johor should choose Barisan Nasional to form the Federal Government in the 15th General Election (GE15) to ensure holistic development in the state, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
The recent figure of RM60.9bil in investments in the first half of this year has shown that investors prefer a stable government to conduct their business, which in turn can increase the socioeconomic level of the people, the Johor Mentri Besar said.
“We have investors coming in from Singapore, Europe, China, and the United States that have set their intention to invest in Johor. All of this could benefit the locals in terms of job opportunities and higher incomes.
“But there are things that we need help from the Federal Government. Having the Johor Mentri Besar, state exco, assemblyman and local community leaders working together is not enough,” he said during a speech at a meet-and-greet session with the people of Kulai Parliament at Dewan Raya Bandar Putra Kulai here on Tuesday (Sept 6).
The state government also needs a stable federal government to make sure that the state and federal management are in line and do not contradict each other, he said.
“Do not let what happened in 2018 happen again. If they (Pakatan Harapan) manage to form the government again, they will cancel all of the planned development that we have,” he said.
During the programme, Onn Hafiz, who is also a member of the Umno supreme council, then took a jab at Kulai MP, Teo Nie Ching, for failing to bring any development to Kulai ever since she was elected as the MP for the district.
“She has been Kulai MP seat for two terms but the road conditions in Kulai look like the aftermath of war; many of the schools have not been repaired, neglected infrastructure and small highways,” he said, adding that the majority of the RM60.9bil investment came from Kulai.
Onn Hafiz added that he was saddened to see the condition of Kulai, which has a huge potential for growth, being led by an MP who does not know how to do her job.
“The investors see Kulai as their next destination because Johor Baru is already packed with development. So I hope that the people of Kulai can choose leaders that can represent them better,” he added.
Onn Hafiz also shared that the state government and the Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) have each allocated RM500,000 to enlarge the flood reservoir pool in Kampung Jaya Sepakat to address the issue of flooding in the lowland areas.
