PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli is standing by his allegation that the second wife of a former deputy defence minister is involved in the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal.
Rafizi yesterday claimed that an internal investigation report had revealed the name of one Zainab Mohd Salleh, who was allegedly linked to an offshore company with units incorporated in tax havens such as Malta and Labuan.
“Datuk Dr Latiff Ahmad’s denial today (yesterday) was weak.
“I detailed the company’s name, amount involved, and its relationship with him. I also included a specific paragraph in the internal investigation report that states Zainab Mohd Salleh is his wife.
“He only denied that Zainab Mohd Salleh was his wife by referring to a viral news report.
“Coincidentally, the news that went viral was a mistake made by a netizen who accused the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Dialog Berhad of being the ‘Zainab Mohd Salleh’ ...
“Zainab Mohd Salleh (LCS) is a different individual,” he pointed out.
Rafizi added he plans to reveal more documents linking Abdul Latiff with a Zainab Mohd Salleh, who owns Alizes Marine.
“It is going to be clearer as to why the internal investigation named Dr Latiff Ahmad as spouse to this Zainab Mohd Salleh,” he said.
Rafizi also told his “friends” who are following his expose to not get nervous, adding that he has proven his track record in such circumstances.
“My record of exposure to major national scandals, starting with NFC, Tabung Haji, Mara, LTAT, Felda, SRC, and 1MDB, all ended with prosecution in court for those involved.
“Only those who have siphoned the people’s money will get nervous.
“Wait for tomorrow (today); I will show the documents,” he said.
Abdul Latiff, who is the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions), earlier denied that Zainab Mohd Salleh was his wife.
“As a Cabinet minister, I am ready to give my full cooperation to the authorities in any further investigation,” he said in his statement.
Abdul Latiff served as deputy defence minister between 2008 and 2013 under Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who was then defence minister.
Abdul Latiff defected from Umno to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia after the 14th General Election.
