Over 70 motorcyclists issued summonses during Ops Lejang at Penang Bridge

BUTTERWORTH: Some 75 motorcyclists were issued with summonses during an operation dubbed as Ops Lejang at the Penang Bridge motorcycle lane.

Road Transport Department operation chief Romli Che Abdullah said the operation was conducted by the state JPJ and other enforcement agencies on Saturday (Aug 13).

"The summonses issued were for various offences," he said.

He said the offences included driving without a valid licence or expired licence, no insurance coverage, and illegal modifications of motorcycles.

He said during the operation, some 150 motorcycles were also screened and 12 were seized for not having valid road tax and insurance.

During the operation, five motorcyclists were detained by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) after their urine test came out positive for drugs.
