KUALA LUMPUR: A luxury MPV carrying 26 passengers with a 17-year-old boy at the wheel was involved in a chase with the police in Sentul.
The police had ordered the MPV to stop after noticing something was amiss with the vehicle on Tuesday (Aug 2).
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai as the police approached the vehicle, it suddenly sprinted away.
"A chase ensued until Jalan Selinsing and the car hit a policeman that was on a motorcycle.
"It then crashed into three cars and came to a halt.
"Upon inspection, there were 19 men and six women, all foreigners, inside the car," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 3).
ACP Beh said the co-driver of the vehicle, which had a fake registration number, escaped during the collision but police have his details.
He said the policeman was uninjured but his motorcycle was slightly damaged.
"The foreigners were found without proper documentation and the teen told the police that he and his accomplice had come to Kuala Lumpur from Rantau Panjang to send the foreigners to look for a job.
"Each foreigner was charged RM6,000," he said, adding they had been remanded to assist investigations.
