IPOH: Tighter aviation precautions are needed to avoid further incidents like Monday's (Aug 1) light plane crash at Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin here, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad (pic).
The Perak Mentri Besar said the incident not only affected those in the aircraft but road users as well.
“The incident happened on a busy road in town.
“We understand that this was an accident, but perhaps the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has methods to prevent similar incidents from happening again,” he told reporters after handing over rescue boats to Perak Police at the police officers' mess hall here on Tuesday (Aug 2).

On Monday, 52-year-old flight instructor and retired fighter pilot Mejar (Rt) Fajim Juffa Mustafa Kamal from Semenyih, Selangor was killed and while Muhammad Din Fikri Zainal Abidin, from Bukit Damansara in Kuala Lumpur, was injured when their Piper 28 light aircraft crashed at around 8pm.
They were reported to have departed from a nearby flight training school before the incident occurred.
Perak police chief Comm Mior Faridalathrash had said on Monday that Fajim Juffa's body was removed from the wreckage at 9.20pm while Muhammad Din Fikri was rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

Muhammad Din Fikri's condition was reported as stable.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said an investigation of the crash had started with CAAM and the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) looking into the incident in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
