PETALING JAYA: A three-year-old child who accidentally swallowed methamphetamine in Kota Baru, Kelantan, has now recovered.
His mother confirmed that her son's condition has improved and that he is back to his usual self.
"Alhamdulillah, my son has recovered. I am very grateful that he has started walking and eating as usual," she said.
Astro Awani reported that the 36-year-old woman said that her son's condition improved and he had been discharged from the hospital after being closely monitored by doctors at the intensive care unit of the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) Children's Ward and Kuala Krai Hospital, Kelantan.
Previously, the child was reportedly only able to open his eyes, and move his legs and arms after a week of being admitted to HRPZ II Hospital.
The child received public attention after he swallowed the drug while with his cousin's father on June 18.
The victim was previously reported to be in a critical condition after the drugs were detected in his blood and body.
He had to rely on breathing aid when beginning to receive treatment at the hospital.
His cousin's father was charged in court and sentenced to three years in prison for exposing the child to the drug.
The Sessions Court on June 28 also sentenced him to 180 hours of community service and good conduct bond.
The accused was charged with an offence under Section 31 (1) (A) of the Children Act 2001.
