A BUSINESSMAN with a “Datuk” title flew from Kuala Lumpur to Segamat, Johor, in his helicopter just to sample the King of Fruits, reported China Press.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, and three of his friends landed at the durian orchard in Kampung Bangas last Wednesday.

According to the orchard owner Lokman Hakim Johar, the businessman wanted to try out only the local variety.

“He did not want those ‘branded’ durians like Musang King because he had been eating them elsewhere.

“For this trip, he wanted to taste only Segamat durians,” he said.

Lokman Hakim said the businessman and his friends ate five durians, before bringing another 20 fruits home to share with their family and friends in Kuala Lumpur.

“Besides some good durians, such as the IOI variety, I also prepared rambutan and mangosteen for them.

“They also got to sample the famous ikan baung (river catfish) meals here.

“All of them really enjoyed themselves although they only stayed here for slightly more than an hour.

“Each of them paid RM88 for the durian buffet and RM25 for the fish dishes,” he said.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that veteran actor Bowie Wu Fung, or popularly known as “Sau Gor”, would be holding a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum on Sept 12.

At the age of 90, he broke his own record as the oldest star to have performed a concert at the venue.

He already had one at the same venue in June last year.

In a recent charity event in Hong Kong, Wu was the first to be out on stage, serenading the audience with two songs.

Throughout the performance, Wu did not look at the screen for lyrics, thus winning the admiration of those who attended the event.

He rushed for another gathering after his performance and quipped that he still had many friends at his age.
