PETALING JAYA: Joint operations led by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led to the arrest of 349 suspects, including 39 with wanted statuses.
CID director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said that the operation, dubbed Op Cantas Bersepadu, was conducted from June 18 to 21 in key areas within Selangor.
The operation was also joined by other agencies such as the Immigration Department and local authorities.
"The operation focused on locating and arresting individuals listed as wanted persons. In addition, the operation also targeted efforts to identify organised crime groups, including crippling their financial resources through enforcement action against premises suspected of being sources of funding for criminal group activities.
"During the operation, 235 raids and inspections were carried out at targeted locations such as business premises, residential areas and construction project sites," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 21).
A total of 349 people aged from 20 to 84 were arrested in the operation, 85 of whom were foreigners.
"Five suspects were listed as wanted under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) while a further 34 people had wanted listings in connection with violent crimes and property crimes," he said.
The operation also led to two entertainment outlets operating without the appropriate licenses and a further 13 business premises suspected of hiring illegal foreigners.
"The success of this operation further demonstrates the continued commitment of the police in strengthening crime prevention and crime eradication efforts, particularly involving organised criminal activities, together with other enforcement agencies," he said.
