Kedah police detain five suspects in missing teenage girls case


KOTA BARU: Police have detained five men over the disappearance of two teenage girls who were rescued in Machang.

Machang OCPD Supt Azuhar Md Nor said all five suspects were arrested in Machang yon Saturday (June 20) afternoon.

"Police have obtained remand orders against the suspects from the Machang Magistrate's Court, with two key suspects remanded for five days and the remaining three for two days to facilitate investigations," he said when contacted on Sunday (June 21).

Meanwhile, a family member of one of the victims, who declined to be identified, expressed gratitude after the two girls were successfully rescued by police after they went missing on Thursday (June 18).

The family member said both victims had medical examinations at Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra in Kuala Krai.

The two teenagers, who are cousins, were reported missing after travelling to Kota Baru by themselves for the first time. – Bernama
