A MOTHER and daughter in Tamil Nadu, India, were injured when the flowers they bought suddenly exploded, Makkal Osai reported.
Jeeva, 18, a college student in Vizhupuram bought the flowers for prayers at her home.
When she dropped the flowers on the floor to tie them into a garland with her mother Thanabakkiyam, the flowers suddenly exploded.
The injured duo were rushed to hospital for treatment, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Early investigations found that some homemade explosives used to chase away wild boars in the flower farm were somehow mixed with the flowers.
It was reported that this is an illegal but common tactic used by farmers in rural areas to chase away monkeys, boars and other wildlife.
The authorities are investigating the incident.
