AFTER years of waiting, work on SJK (T) Ladang Rini’s new classroom block has finally begun following a groundbreaking ceremony last Friday, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Approval for the RM4.3mil allocation to build the new classroom block in Johor was secured earlier this year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s special duties officer Shanmugam Mookan attended the groundbreaking ceremony as the special guest.

Ladang Rini Tamil school is one of five Tamil schools nationwide to receive a total allocation of RM30mil for new buildings, which are being closely monitored, said Shanmugam.

SJK (T) Ladang Kulai Besar, another of the five schools, began construction work earlier this month.

The new buildings are expected to be completed within 12 months, he said.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek handed over the contractor’s appointment letter during an official visit to the school in Skudai in June.
