ALOR SETAR: A 17-year-old boy with autism who went missing after apparently leaving his home in Kepala Batas, near Jitra, on Thursday (Nov 5) was found safe on Friday (Nov 6) morning.
Wan Mukhlish Wan Mohammad, a student in the Special Education Integration Programme, was found by a security guard in an unoccupied house in a new housing development near his home at about 7.20am.
His mother, Fitriyah Mat Rejab, 48, said she had gone out in her car at 6.20am to search for her eldest son around their neighbourhood and the nearby housing area.
"I drove around several areas looking for him. When I reached the new housing development, a security guard on a motorcycle approached me and told me that he had found my son.
"I followed him and soon saw another security guard taking my son on a motorcycle. The guard had also lent him a jacket as he had left home wearing only shorts," she told Bernama when contacted.
Fitriyah said she was relieved and grateful that her son had been found safe and unharmed, apart from a few mosquito bites.
"This was not the first time he had left home on his own, but on previous occasions, my husband, his teacher or I had noticed him leaving," she said.
Meanwhile, Kubang Pasu Police chief Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim confirmed that the teenager was found in an unfinished, unoccupied house about 1.5km from his home.
"The teenager is believed to have left home and later taken shelter in the house when it started raining," he said. - Bernama
