Ex-cop charged with falsifying subpoena to avoid drug test

MUAR: A former policeman allegedly falsified two subpoenas to deceive his superiors that he was attending a court case in another state to avoid taking a urine test.

It is learnt that the former policeman, who is in his 30s and held the rank of corporal, was randomly selected to take a drug test in 2023.

A police official said the suspect told his superior he was unavailable because he had to attend a court case in Kedah and would only return after several days.

"Suspecting something amiss, the superior contacted the Kedah court and asked if they had indeed subpoenaed the policeman to give evidence in a narcotics case," the official said, adding that he then lodged a report over the matter.

The official said that the suspect later tested positive for drugs was dismissed from the force in 2025.

The suspect is facing two charges under Section 466 of the Penal Code for forgery of court records or a public register at the Muar Magistrates Court on Friday (Nov 6).

He pleaded not guilty and was released on a RM16,000 bail.
