A HOSPITAL bed loaned by Jalinan Insan Prihatin to local singer Muhammad Suhaimi Rafa’at, 49, has helped him care for his ailing mother, Harian Metro reported.
The vocalist of Sofea, a well-known local heavy metal band in the 1980s, has been caring for his mother, Nadirah Shaharuddin, 79, for the past three years.
However, the task became more challenging after his mother suffered a fall about two months ago, resulting in an injury and a fractured hip.
Her condition has required Muhammad Suhaimi to handle almost all her daily needs, including bathing, changing diapers and feeding her.
This has led him to put aside some of his career and personal commitments.
“Before we got this bed, it was difficult to change her diapers and bathe her. Her movement was very limited and she would often complain of pain because previously she had to lie on the floor,” he said.

Syasya, whose full name is Norsyasya Afiqah Shahrizal, hit back at critics, reminding the public not to judge others without knowing the circumstances.
Syasya, 25, who was previously a member of girl group Dolla, released the song Different on Aug 21, which she co-wrote with Amirul Azhar, Asyraf Nasir, Adib Hamdi and Naim Daniel.
In the accompanying music video, the mother of two is seen dancing while wearing a hijab, prompting various reactions from social media users.
She posted her comments on Threads recently.
In a separate post, Syasya said life was too short to please everyone and that she will not allow criticism to prevent her from being herself.
“No matter what we do, there will always be people who do not like us, and that is okay.
“Most importantly, appreciate those who remain by our side, supporting and loving us through every version of ourselves, in good times and bad,” she added.
