MCA's Mike Chong challenges Teluk Intan MP to debate on micromobility vehicles

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA spokesman Mike Chong (pic) has challenged Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming to a debate on the use of micromobility vehicles.

This came in response to claims by Nga that restrictions on the vehicles' usage would burden its users.

“I will be sending an invitation of debate to his office in Teluk Intan in the next two days. Let us debate and see how the public will react to his stance towards this,” he told a press conference on Tuesday (May 10).

He added that Nga had also suggested that micromobility vehicle users be allowed to buy insurance instead of being restricted from using the vehicles.

“Motor insurance, however, does not cover micromobility vehicle users,” he said, adding that users could only buy personal accident insurance and only the policy holder could make a claim in the event of a mishap.

He also asked if leaders such as Nga would take responsibility in case of accidents or worse, loss of life.

Nga has been contacted for his response.
