Haze: Perak schools reopen Oct 12 as API readings improve

IPOH: Schools in Perak will reopen on Monday (Oct 12) as the hazy weather improves.

Perak Education Department director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar said the air pollutant index (API) readings across the state have gone below 150, allowing schools to resume as usual.

"The department will continue to monitor the API readings to ensure appropriate measures can be taken in accordance with the ministry's guidelines and directives.

"Parents and guardians are urged to stay updated on the latest developments, follow official announcements and cooperate with schools to ensure their children's health and safety," he said in a statement on Sunday.

"The safety, health and welfare of students and the entire education community remain our priority," he added.

On Friday, schools and educational institutions in Kinta Utara, Kinta Selatan and Kuala Kangsar were ordered to close due to worsening haze.
