Haze: Schools in four districts in KL and Selangor closed tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: All schools under four District Education Offices (PPD) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will be closed on Monday (Oct 12) due to the haze.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said the closure involves schools under PPD Bangsar Pudu, PPD Hulu Langat, PPD Gombak and PPD Petaling Perdana.

"Schools in Melaka, Penang, Putrajaya, Labuan, Perak, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis, Sabah and Sarawak will operate as usual.

"In Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, schools under PPDs other than those mentioned will also operate as usual," she said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Oct 11).

She urged parents and school communities to refer to official announcements by the Education Ministry, state education departments and their respective district education offices for the latest updates.

Earlier, it was reported that state education directors would announce the status of school operations daily based on Air Pollutant Index (API) readings issued by the Department of Environment (DOE).

The Education Ministry has directed state education directors to establish Haze Monitoring Task Forces for this purpose.
