Some may be exempted from minimum wage ruling


Positive ripple effect: The move to increase the minimum wage to RM1,500 is expected to positively contribute to the country’s economy by increasing the purchasing power of employees, says Saravanan.

PETALING JAYA: Some businesses may be allowed to postpone or be exempted from implementing the RM1,500 minimum wage which is expected to come into effect on May 1, says Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Awang Hashim.

The ministry, he said, would deliberate on the postponement of the implementation of the new minimum wage for some business sectors, especially micro, small and medium enterprises.
