Tuanku Muhriz reminds new Negri MB, state leaders to uphold loyalty and mutual respect, avoid power abuse

KUALA PILAH: The Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has reminded the new Mentri Besar and all state legislative assembly members to always respect and be loyal to the Royal Institution.

The state Ruler also reminded them to protect and preserve the sovereignty of the state constitution while recognising the power vested in the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang of Negri Sembilan.

The Negri Ruler also reminded everyone that every religion, race, and culture possesses noble values and traditions that deserve to be respected and preserved.

"Mutual understanding, respect, and appreciation for the diversity that forms the strength of our society must continue to be nurtured among all people.

"I believe that by upholding the values of mutual respect, tolerance, and the spirit of consensus, we will be able to strengthen unity, preserve harmony, and foster a spirit of togetherness among our multi-ethnic people," he said, adding that this was the vital foundation that will ensure Negri Sembilan remains peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious for the enjoyment of present and future generations

Tuanku Muhriz said this in his royal address at the swearing-in ceremony of new Mentri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim at Istana Besar Seri Menanti on Sunday (Aug 2).

Tuanku Muhriz said he also placed his trust in Ismail to continue to serve diligently and honestly.

The state Ruler said the excellence shown during the past term be continued and improved upon should there be any weaknesses.

He also congratulated all the elected representatives who have been given the mandate by the people to sit in the state legislative assembly following the 16th state election.

"To the unsuccessful candidates, I hope you can continue to serve the people with full dedication and contribute to the well-being of society and the progress of Negri Sembilan," he said.

Tuanku Muhriz reminded those elected that the trust placed upon them by the people was immense.

"You are responsible for bringing the voice, aspirations, needs, and problems of the people to this noble assembly so that every policy, plan, and decision made truly reflects the interests of the people.

"Therefore, every action and consideration must always be centred on the welfare of the people and the progress of the state," he said.

Tuanku Muhriz reminded them that their loyalty and commitment must always be prioritised for the state and the people they represented, transcending any political and personal interests.

The state, he said, requires leaders who possess high integrity, uphold dignity, and hold firmly to noble principles and values.

"I would like to emphasise that every trust borne must be executed with a full sense of responsibility, honesty, and sincerity.

"Any abuse of power, position, or the trust given will not only tarnish the institution represented but can also result in injustice and undermine the effectiveness of the implementation of policies formulated for the benefit of the people.
