GEORGE TOWN: The Digital Ministry held the handover ceremony for its Sekolah Angkat Madani (SAM) programme at SK Jalan Residensi, here.
The ceremony was officiated by Personal Data Protection Department director-general Shariffah Rashidah Syed Othman, who represented the Digital Ministry secretary-general.
SK Jalan Residensi received an allocation of RM100,000, which was used to improve and upgrade the school's infrastructure and facilities.
The improvements included the installation and procurement of fixed and portable public address systems, air-conditioning units, ceiling fans, whiteboards and noticeboards.
The allocation also covered the construction of zinc-roofed awnings for the art room and ablution area, as well as a tiled concrete sink to improve comfort and convenience for the entire school community.
The handover ceremony coincided with the school's Children's Day celebration, which featured activities introducing pupils to artificial intelligence (AI) and digital literacy, organised by Biji-biji Initiative and AI Malaysia Bhd.
In addition to a colouring competition, these interactive activities aimed to provide pupils with opportunities to explore the digital world while fostering digital literacy from an early age.
The ministry remains committed to implementing various high-impact initiatives that directly benefit the public, including through the Sekolah Angkat Madani programme.
The initiative at SK Jalan Residensi reflects the Madani government's commitment to addressing the needs of local communities, particularly by ensuring a conducive learning environment and providing pupils with exposure to contemporary digital technologies.
These efforts not only enhance the well-being of the school community and local residents, but also promote inclusive development, laying a strong foundation for Malaysia's ambition to become an AI Nation by 2030.
